IN THIS CHAPTER
Read at your own pace. Take the ideas that fit your trip, and leave room for your own route.
Choose your waterfall day
Štrbački Buk and Martin Brod are distinct visitor areas, not two names for the same park stop. Both belong to the Una's landscape of travertine waterfalls and cascades. Decide which places matter most before planning your approach and time in the park.
Use Bihać as part of the plan
Bihać is a nearby urban centre for the Una region. Where you stay should make sense for your chosen outings and onward journey, rather than simply being the nearest available map pin. Tell us where you are coming from and where you need to finish.
Watching the river is not the same as getting on it
Waterfall viewpoints, walks and organised river activities are different experiences. A rafting or kayaking day needs its own route, conditions and operator checks. If the group has mixed interests, say so: not everyone needs the same kind of adventure.
Give the northwest its own chapter
The Una region deserves more than being added to the end of an already full Sarajevo and Mostar itinerary. Build in time for the journey as well as the destination. Current entrance arrangements and road access should be checked for the specific park area you choose.
